At the end of march, beginning of april, it’s the cherryblossom season in Japan. Paths of trees are florishing, opening their subtle and pale pink petals. Japanese, at the end of the day, are invading their parks. There’s so many people that’s difficult to walk. A lot of them have booked places under the trees. On blue plastic, they’re sitting, having a drink, eating and laughing. It’s fun to see relaxed people sitting this way, even when it’s a little too cold.
Tokyo is one of the cleaner cities of the world. The city doesn’t have lot of garbages but no one dares throw away papers or cans. It’s the same thing about their tube : it’s so clean you can sit down on the floor. They’re very policed people. They queue to enter into the trains, but after that it’s « every man for himself », each one trying to get a seat. Their subway trains are spacious and the seats are comfortable. Moreover, it’s really safe. A lot of people are sleeping and when you’re in Tokyo you understand why : it seems to be so sure, so secured that you do not fear anything.
Evidently, as in each country, you have to keep an eye on people and things. But such a secure place as Tokyo has rarely been seen.
Tokyo is a big city and one week is not enough to see all its districts. The gardens are huge and when you’re in you feel like being in a forest.
Visitors have to visit a particular place, out of Tokyo, even if they do not have so much time : they have to go to Nikko. It’s around two hours from Tokyo and it’s quite simple to go. You just have to go to the Asakusa station, where’s trains to other places. It’s not very expensive. Go out at Nikko and there’s you can join the tourism office to take a map. Even without any map, it’s very simple to find the national park. It’s one of the most beautiful places.
Nikko has several temples and shrines from the Edo period. And the Toshogu shrine is a real wonder. When you have visited it, you’re so delighted that you can not think about anything else. Everything seems so pale after that!
You can also take a jump to Kamakura, near the ocean. There’s lot of shrines and temples to visit too.
If you stay in Tokyo, you will not be bored. There’s so much things to discover and to try that each day is a surprise. And Tokyo is also full of temples, between skyscrapers and buildings, in the beautiful gardens… It’s a city that has to be seen. You will enjoy your trip.
