This is a post where I’m going to select the best 10 Sci-Fi movies of the decade (2000-2009). I have selected movies with some kind of Sci-Fi elements in their plots and I have split the selection between Sci-Fi and Fantasy. So there will be another list to select the best 10 Fantasy movies.
Previously I have to select the contenders, and there are a lot of awesome Sci-Fi movies.

This is an amazing short film called Ataque de Pánico! (Panic Attack!). It’s an amazing low budget sci-fi short film created by the Uruguayan guy Fede Alvarez with professional tools such as Rigging and a few friends with great passion for doing things to be seen on the Internet. The cost of this short film was $200 and it was filmed in Montevideo.
A Hollywood company is really interested in this project so maybe we could see a powerful full movie with this story soon. It would be perfect to see the movie on the big screen of the theater. Great job.

Cíclope (Cyclops) is a Spanish Sci-Fi short film people will see here in theaters before in the new Bruce Willis movie titled Surrogates. The movie will be released on September 25th.
Cyclops is set in the future of a new Madrid. It is the story of two policemen who are brothers. It follows the inner turmoil of one of the brothers, suffering terrible nightmares, who begins to question his position in the Police Force, all due to a mistake that will probably haunt the rest of his life.
The short film looks really awesome and serious and I would like to see it as soon as I can. This is the trailer in Spanish (sorry but there aren’t trailers in English):
Frank Herbert used to write in Dune: "I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."
I'm totally agree.
