I love TV episodes and now we have this amazing tool which is the Internet, I thought that we could use it for watching all our favourite TV shows online. So I discovered Hulu, Fancast and other websites where people were saying that you were allowed to see the latest episodes online in streaming and even watching HD episodes at 1080p. Therefore I loaded Hulu and I found out tons of TV shows and movies ready to be watched by fans, I mean Galactica, Heroes, Fringe, Desperate Housewives, House, CSI, etc. And I was also ready with my computer and my HD monitor to see them online but when I loaded one selected episode a gorgeous message appeared on the screen: “We are sorry, currently our library can only be streamed within the United States…” and I’m living in Spain.
What?? I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I was terribly wrong about the tool I thought the Internet was. They are streaming those episodes for the USA residents and they are sending the rest of the world to hell. And we are the Internet users just like the USA residents but we are suffering the stupidity of some companies that have their rights to broadcast in the USA only which is an absolutely rubbish. The Internet is something global and we need to have the same rights to see Lost online instead of download all the Lost episodes from p2p networks. What the hell are they thinking? I mean the greatest solution to close p2p networks is opening the broadcast for everybody whether you live in the USA or not. Think about that please.
It’s the same thing about watching BBC online. You are only allowed to see all that you want if you’re UK resident. Brilliant!! I can’t watch Doctor Who or Torchwood. What can I see?
The final sentence: The Internet has to be a global multimedia library without restrictions to watch all the TV shows or movies that you want online. That’s the point I would like to get someday even if you have to pay for that.
